Payment
Policy
This page explains how we accept and process payments, what currencies we support, how we protect your financial data, and what happens if a transaction is disputed.
Accepted Payment Methods
We accept the following payment methods at checkout. All methods are processed securely through Stripe — no payment details are stored on our servers.
How Payments Are Processed
Payment Flow
Order Confirmation
An order is only confirmed after successful payment authorisation. We reserve the right to cancel orders where payment fails, where fraud is suspected, or where goods are no longer available. You will be notified and any charge will be refunded promptly.
Currency & Pricing
Display Currency
All prices on buysell.net.au are listed in US Dollars (USD) with option to change currency to AUD. This is our primary trading currency as an Australian business.
Multi-Currency Support
We support payments in multiple currencies for international customers. Where prices are displayed in your local currency, this is for convenience only — the authoritative price is in USD.
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Base currency | US (USD) |
| Conversion rate | Set by Stripe or your card issuer at the time of transaction |
| Foreign transaction fees | May be applied by your bank — we have no control over these charges |
| Our responsibility | We are not liable for additional bank fees or unfavourable exchange rates |
Pricing Accuracy
We take all reasonable care to ensure prices displayed are accurate. In the event of a pricing error, we will contact you before processing your order. You will have the option to proceed at the correct price or cancel for a full refund.
GST
All prices include Australian Goods and Services Tax (GST) at 10% where applicable, in compliance with the A New Tax System (Goods and Services Tax) Act 1999.
Payment Data Security
How Your Data Is Protected
All payment data is transmitted using industry-standard TLS encryption. Stripe holds PCI-DSS Level 1 certification — the highest level of compliance available in the payments industry. buysell.net.au does not store, transmit, or have access to your full card number, CVV, or PIN.
Stripe's Role
Stripe acts as our payment processor and handles all financial data on our behalf. Their privacy policy and security practices apply to the handling of your payment information. You can review Stripe's policies at stripe.com/au/privacy.
Fraud Prevention
Our Approach
We use automated fraud detection tools — including Stripe Radar — to identify and prevent suspicious transactions. This helps protect both our customers and our business.
What We May Do
- Decline or place on hold any transaction that appears suspicious
- Request additional identity verification before processing an order
- Cancel an order and issue a full refund where fraud is confirmed or suspected
- Report confirmed fraudulent activity to relevant authorities
Disputes & Chargebacks
Resolving Issues First
We strongly encourage you to contact us before initiating a chargeback with your bank. Most payment issues — including incorrect charges, duplicate payments, and unrecognised transactions — can be resolved quickly and directly.
Chargeback Policy
Initiating a chargeback without first contacting us may result in suspension of your account. Where a chargeback is found to be fraudulent or unjustified, we will contest it with supporting evidence.
Under the ePayments Code and general banking rules, you have the right to dispute unauthorised transactions directly with your bank regardless of this policy — nothing here limits that statutory right.
Refund vs. Chargeback
A direct refund from us is faster and does not attract chargeback fees for either party. We will always try to resolve payment disputes fairly and promptly.
Your Consumer Rights
Consumer Guarantees That Apply to Payments
- You are entitled to a refund if goods fail to meet a consumer guarantee and the failure is a major failure
- We cannot charge restocking or processing fees on refunds for faulty goods
- Refunds for consumer guarantee failures must be issued to your original payment method
- We cannot require you to accept store credit in lieu of a monetary refund for a major failure
Complaints
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled a payment dispute, you may escalate to:
- Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) — accc.gov.au
- NSW Fair Trading — for matters involving our NSW operations
- Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) — for disputes with your bank or card issuer
